One reserved 3 A.C. class ticket from Delhi to Lucknow costs Rs.538 and one-half reserved 3 A.C. class ticket costs Rs.294. Find the full basic and the reservation charges separately.

Let full fare be x and reservation charge be y
Half ticket = x/2
x+y=538...........................................1
x/2 +y = 294......................................@
subtract 2 from 1
x/2= 244
x= 488
y = 538-488= 50
Full fare = Rs 488 Reservation charges = Rs 50

While those readers from India are expected to know what the words  " 3 A.C. class ticket "  mean,

for all other future students,  who may read this post,  I recommend to learn the meaning of these words from the  Internet

As I understand, the major goal of this problem is to scare the readers and to prove how smart
is the composer, using these combinations of words, that are confusing for general audience.

Usually, the goal of a professional Math composer is not to prove himself (or herself).
The true goal is to teach students in a right way.

Very sad to see things like this.
