Actually, 8.062 is already rounded to the thousandth.
8.1 would be the rounded value to the nearest tenth.

The thousandths place after the decimal would be the third number to the right of the decimal. The number after it determines whether the number stays or gets rounded up. In this case, there is no number after the 2 at the end there. We understand that it's really a 0 - we just didn't write it. So, the 2 remains as itself.

The rule is, pick the decimal place. Examine the number in that decimal place. Ask yourself, will this number stay as it is or be rounded up? Look at the number immediately to the right of that number you had in mind. If that number to the right is 5 to 9, your number rounds up to the next highest integer. If it's 0 - 4, your number stays as it is.

The 0 in 8.062 is in the tenths place. So, if we want to round to the nearest tenth, we better be looking at that number 0 and find out whether it stays 0 or goes up to 1. The number immediately to the right of it is a 6. Since 6 is between 5 and 9 inclusive, that 0 rounds up to a 1. So you replace the 0 with a 1 and drop the remaining numbers. Now you got 8.1, which is 8.062 rounded to the nearest tenth.

If it is to thousanth, the answer remains as the question. This is because 8.062 has three numbers after decimal point and that is thousandth already. Thanks
