You didn't say what you were taking the volume of, however in regular shapes like cubes and cylindars V=(Area of the Base)(height)
In a cube the base is a square and its area is .
Therefore the volume of the cube is
If you double s ==>
The volume is quadrupled.
For a cylindar
Double the sides and ==>
Again the Volume is quadrupled.
