How do you multiply and divide decimals?
89.16 divided by 0.2

  0.2)89.16

It takes moving the decimal of the divisor 0.2 one place to the right
to get a whole number, 02. which is the same as just 2. Since that
took one move right, we have to move the decimal of the dividend,
89.16, one place right also, getting 891.6. Place a decimal directly
above the decimal in the dividend. So now the problem is:

        .
   2)891.6

2 divided into the first digit 8 gives 4, so we write 4 above the 8

     4 .
   2)891.6

Now we multiply the 4 by the 2, getting 8, and write it below the 8
that's already there:

     4 .
   2)891.6
     8

Draw a line under the 8

     4 .
   2)891.6
     8

Subtract and you get nothing. Bring down the next digit, the 9

     4 .
   2)891.6
     8
      9

Divide 2 into the 9. It doesn't go evenly but 4 is the largest
whole number so that when we multiply by 2 it doesn't go over 9.
Write 4 above the 9 on top and beside the other 4

     44 .
   2)891.6
     8
      9

Multiply 4 by 2, getting 8 and write this below the 9 at the
bottom:

     44 .
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8

Draw a line at the bottom and subtract 9 minus 8, getting 1:

     44 .
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8
      1

Bring down the 1 from the divisor

     44 .
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8
      11

Divide 2 into the 11. It doesn't go evenly but 5 is the largest
whole number so that when we multiply by 2 it doesn't go over 11.
Write 5 above the 1 on top and beside the second 4

     445.
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8
      11

Multiply the 5 by the 2, getting 10. Write that under the 11 at
the bottom:

     445.
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8
      11
      10

Draw a line at the bottom, and subtract 10 from 11, getting 1,
so write it under the bottom line

     445.
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8
      11
      10
       1

Bring down the 6

     445.
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8
      11
      10
       1 6

Divide the 2 into the 16 at the bottom. It goes 8 times.
So write 8 just right of the decimal at the top.

     445.8
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8
      11
      10
       1 6

Multiply the 8 by the 2, getting 16. So write 16 under the
other 16 at the bottom:

     445.8
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8
      11
      10
       1 6
       1 6

Draw a line at the bottom, subtract and get 0

     445.8
   2)891.6
     8
      9
      8
      11
      10
       1 6
       1 6
         0

So the remainder is 0. There are no more digits to bring
down, so we are done, and the answer is 445.8
