a) How many times greater is the total weight of the bridge than the weight of the heaviest single piece?

heaviest single piece weight is 1.84 * 10^5 pound.

total weight of the bridge is (8.80 * 10^7) / (1.84 * 10^5) times greater than the heaviest single piece.

(8.80 * 10^7) / (1.84 * 10^5) = (8.80/1.84) * (10^7/10^5) = (4.782608696 * 10^2) greater.

8.80 * 10^7 = 88,000,000

1.84 * 10^5 = 184,000

88,000,000 / 184,000 = 478.2608696 which is the same as:

4.782608696 * 10^2
