lets say the number is 6.7895. the number in the hundredths place would be the 8. look at the number to the right of the hundredths place. if it's higher than 5, than you round up, thus making the answer 6.79. if it's lower than 5, than you round down, making the answer 6.78. when you round to a certain number, ie. to the hundredths, all numbers after the rounding number are turned to zeros, thus making them dissapear if they are after the decimal point. this may sound confusing, but if you practice on paper, you'll get it.
