: Hello and thank you in advance for your help. I have two problems im haveing a hard time trying to figure out dealing with evaluation and decimal notation.
1). evaluate 2l + 4w + 2h for l = 2.4,w = 1.3, and h = 0.8
(the total girth of a postal package)
2). 9t - 4 = 6t + 26

1)2l + 4w + 2h
= 2(2.4) + 4(1.3) + 2(0.8)
= 4.8 + 5.2 + 1.6
= 11.6
Just substitute the letters with the numbers.
2)9t - 4 = 6t + 26
9t - 6t - 4 = 6t - 6t + 26
3t - 4 = 26
3t - 4 + 4 = 26 + 4
3t = 30
t = 10
Whenever you have x on both sides of the equation, try to move anything with x onto one side of the equation and plain integers on the other side of the equation (only works for linear equations).
