Question 1041896: Whats an example where the Fundamental Counting Principle can be used to show that there are a total of 18 possibilities?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let's say you have 3 different color shirts (red, green, blue) and 6 different types of pants (jeans, khakis, etc)
This would mean that there are 3*6 = 18 different outfits. One example of an outfit is you wear a blue shirt and jeans for pants.
The counting principle is simply multiplying out the different options. This can be shown by drawing out a probability tree. If you did that, then there would be 2 levels and 18 different branches showing out all the different possibilities.
