The school took in $30 on the second day by selling 2 adult tickets and 3 child tickets. What is the price each of one adult ticket and one child ticket?

Adult tickets = 'x'
Child's ticket = 'y'
8x + 2y = 60......(1)
2x + 3y = 30......(2)
Multiply (1) by 3 and
(2) by 2
24x + 6y = 180....(1)
4x + 6y = 60......(2)
Subtract (2) from (1)
20x = 120
x = 6
Substitute x = 6 into (2)
2x + 3y = 30
2(6) + 3y = 30
12 + 3y = 30
3y = 30 - 12
3y = 18
y = 6
Adult's ticket = $6
Child's ticket = $6
