Question 975773: A formula in the form: y=mx+b models the value, y, of a new car x years after the initial purchase in 2000. Would you expect m to be positive, negative, or zero? Explain your answer.
Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y = mx + b
y is the total value
m is the appreciation (goes up) or depreciation (goes down)
x is the number of years
b is the initial purchase price
y = mx + 2000 {the initial purchase price is 2000}
m would be negative, because as the number of years increases after the initial price, the total value of the car would depreciate (decrease)
