Question 970500: Solve the following problem, show all work.
While shopping at your favorite clothing store, you find a shirt you like on a clearance rack for 70% off. If the shirt was originally priced $40 and sales tax is 7%, how much will you actually pay for the shirt, including sales tax?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
shirt originally sells for 40.
70% of 40 is equal to .7 * 40 which is equal to 28.00
40 - 28 = 12.
shirt is selling for 12.
tax on 12 is .07 * 12 = .84.
shirt will cost 12.84
