Since you know that your mom likes yellow marbles better than purple ones, the bag has three times as many yellow marbles as purple. The bag contains 164 marbles. How many purple marbles are in the bag?

let x be the no of purple marbles
then no of yellow marbles = 3*x
total no of marbles =164
3x+x =164
4x=164
divide with 4 on both sides
no of purple marbles = 41
