Question 909065: A train and a car start at the same place. The train is going 40 miles per hour and a car is going in the opposite direction at 60 miles per hour. How long will it be until they are 100 miles apart?

In one hour, the train will be 40 miles from the starting point.
In that same hour, the car will be 60 miles from the starting point, in the opposite direction.
60+40 = 100 miles apart after 1 hour.
