Question 890829: Tickets to a local play were sold for $7 on Saturday and $5 on Sunday. If 1,704 tickets were sold at a total value of $10,032, how many attended the play on Saturday and Sunday?
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If all the play tickets were Saturday tickets, the revenue would have been $7 * 1704 tickets = $11,928
The actual ticket sales were 10,032, a difference of $1896
The difference in the ticket prices is $2
$1896 / $2 = 948 tickets sold at the lower price
If 948 Sunday tickets were sold, then 1704-948, or 756 Saturday tickets were sold.
.
948 Sunday tickets at $5 = $4,740
756 Saturday tickets at $7 = $5,292
Total = 4740 + 5292 = $10,032
