The price of admission to a movie theater has been steadily increasing. The price of regular admission y (in dollars) to a movie can be represented by the equation y=0.24x+5.28 where x is the number of years after 2000. Find the x intercept and What does the X intercept mean?
----
Let y = 0; then solve for "x":
0.24x + 5.28 = 0
0.24x = -5.28
x = -22
--------
Meaning:: It cost nothing to attend a movie 22 years before 2000,
i.e. in 1978.
Comment:: That information is meaningless as the equation is
only supposed to show tha cost of a movie after the year 2000.
