the length of a rectangular playing field is 5 feet less than twice its width. if the perimeter of the playing field is 230 feet find the length and width of the field.
Answer by malakumar_kos@yahoo.com(315) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let the width of the rectangular field be=x
the length of the field=2x-5
perimeter of the field=230 ft i.e. p = 2l+2b=2(2x-5)+2x=4x-10+2x=6x-10
6x-10 = 230
6x=230+10=240 i.e. 6x=240 x=240/6=40
width = 40ft length=2.40-5=80-5=75ft
length = 75ft and width = 40ft
