Think of the intercepts as points. The x-intercept has a y value of zero, and the y-intercept has an x value of zero.
So, as points, y-intercept is: (0,1) and x-intercept is: (2,0)
Now use your slope formula (m=y2-y1/x2-x1, using the points as x and y.
(m=0-1/2-0). Now simplify: m= -1/2. Slope is -1/2. Remeber, they give you the y-intercept in the problem!
The slope is -1/2 and the y-intercept is 1.

Answer by richwmiller(17219)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2,0), (0,1)
y=mx+1
0=2m+1
-1/2=m
Slope is -1/2
You just told us the y intercept is 1
the line is
y=-x/2+1
or
x+2y=2
