Question 831467: 5 sandwiches and 3 cups of coffee cost £12.35 each , if the sandwiches are £1.75 each how much will each cup of coffee be
Answer by hovuquocan1997(83) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let the cost of one sandwiches be x and the cost of one cup of coffee be y
since you buy 5 sandwiches and 3 cups of coffee and the total cost is 12.35. the equation will be
5x + 3y = 12.35
But you already know the sandwiches are 1.75 each, so you plug it in the equation:
5(1.75) + 3y = 12.35
8.75 + 3y = 12.35
3y = 12.35 - 8.75
3y = 3.6
y = 1.2
