Question 829672: My problem is "you need to earn $475 per week to afford the new car you want to buy. Your work week is 45 hours. You get 1.5 times the regular hourly rate for overtime (anything over 40 hours). How much does your hourly rate need to be?" Please help! Thank you
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
That's a good job :-).
Let x = hourly rate of pay
40x + (5*1.5)x = $475
40x + 7.5x = $475
Add the Xs
47.5x = $475
Divide each side by 47.5
x = $10
.
$10/hr will get you that car (not right away, though!)
