a. for what value of d is the perimeter of both choices the same?
b. for what value of d is the area of both choices the same?

width: 3ft length:(2d-5)ft
rectangle 2
width: 2ft length: (2d-4)ft
Answer by erica65404(394) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you make rectangle1=rectangle2
Perimeter:
rectangle1(L+L+W+W)=rectangle2(L+L+W+W)
combine like terms
they are equal to each other so for the perimeter d can be any number.
Area:
Rectangle1(L*W)=rectangle2(L*W)
Distribute
Subtract 4d and add 15 to each side
divide by 2
For the area d can only be 3.5.
