A group of people consisting of 1 adult and 4 children were charged $85.00 for admission to museum. A second group of 3 adults and 2 children were charged $105. If A is the admission charge for adults and c is children in dollars.
A. Write to equations that relate the number of adults and children in each group to their admission costs.
B.solve the above equations simultaneously to find the admission cost of an adult and admission cost of a child
C check you solution

As the cost of admission for an adult is A, the total cost for 1 adult = 1A, or A

As the cost of admission for a child is C, then total cost for 4 children = 4C

As total cost for an adult and 4 children is $85, then A + 4C = 85 ------ eq (i)

Likewise, cost of admission for 3 adults = 3A, and cost of admission for 2 children is 2C

Therefore, 3A + 2C = 105 ------- eq (ii)

- 3A - 12C = - 255 ------- Multiplying eq (i) by - 3

Therefore, we have:

- 10C = - 150 ------ Adding eqs (iii) & (ii)

C, or admission cost for a child = , or $

Substitute 15 for C in eq (i) and determine the admission cost for an adult.

Thereafter, do a check to make sure the answers are correct and make sense.
