Question 756437: Over the weekend, Rachel and Morgan drove to Chicago to go shopping. Now they're preparing to go home. Morgan needs gas for her jeep, which gets 27 miles per gallon for gas mileage. When she stops at the gas station, she already has 8 gallons of gas in her tank. She buys more gas for $1.50 per gallon. If Morgan spends $17.50 on gas, what is the total distance the girls could travel? Round, if necessary, to the nearest tenth.
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Morgan spends $17.50 on gas at $1.50 a gallon
= $17.50/$1.50 = 11.6 gallons
Plus the 8 gallons still in the tank
= 19.6 gallons.
The jeep can get 27 miles per gallon,
therefore 19.6 gallons * 27 miles p.g
= 529.2miles.
Hope this helps
