Question 744279: The drama club sold 311 tickets for a play. Student tickets cost 50 cents each; nonstudent tickets cost $1.50. If total receipts were $385.50, find how many tickets of each type were sold.
Answer by sachi(548) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let the no of student ticket=x
so non student ticket=311-x
Student tickets cost 50 cents each; nonstudent tickets cost $1.50. If total receipts were $385.50
so 0.5*x+1.5*(311-x)=385.5
or x+3(311-x)=771 dividing by 0.5
or x+933-3x=771
or 2x=933-771=162
or x=81
so the no of student ticket=81
so non student ticket=311-81=230
