ALL THESE PROBLEMS HAVE A STANDARD FORMULA TO SOLVE:
TOTAL POUNDAGE * COST = AMOUNT #1 * COST + AMOUNT #2 * COST
TOTAL POUND * 1.75 = (UNKNOWN POUNDS) * 1.25 + (TOTAL POUNDS - UNKNOWN POUNDS) * 2.75
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.75=1.25X+2.75(1-X)
1.75=1.25X+2.75-2.75X
1.75-2.75=-1.5X
-1=-1.5X
X=-1/-1.5
X=2/3 POUNDS OF 1.25 PEANUTS.
1-2/3=1/3 POUNDS OF RAISONS.
PROOF
1.75=1.25(2/3)+2.75(1/3)
1.75=2.5/3+2.75/3
1.75=5.25/3
1.75=1.75
