Let 'g' be the present age of the girl and 'f' be the age of the father.
Therefore, g = (2/5)f or
5g - 2f = 0 is the required equation
a. When f = 40
g = (2/5)*40 = 16 years
b.When g = 22
f = (5/2)*22 = 55 years
