Question 719466: two movie tickets and one dinner cost $65. The two movie tickets cost $15 less than the dinner.what is the price of the two tickets and the dinner
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x= cost of movie ticket
y= cost of dinner
2 x + 1 y = 65 .............1
y-2x=15
-2.00 x + 1 y = 15.00 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -1
Multiply (2) by 1
-2.00 x -1 y = -65.00
-2.00 x + 1 y = 15.00
Add the two equations
-4.00 x = -50.00
/ -4.00
x = 12.50
plug value of x in (1)
2.00 x + 1.00 y = 65.00
25.00 + y = 65.00
y = 65.00 -25
y = 40.00
y = 40.00
x= 12.50 cost of movie tickets
y= 40.00 cost of dinner
2 tickets cost $25
dinner costs $40
