One friend is traveling north and the other is traveling south. If they are 1029 miles apart, and one is traveling at 45 mph and the other is traveling at 53 mph, when will the friends meet?
**
let x=distance traveled at 45 mph
1029-x=distance traveled at 53 mph
travel time=distance/speed (same for both)
.>
x/45=(1029-x)/53
53x=45(1029-x)
53x=46305-45x
98x=46305
x=472.5
Travel time=472.5/45=10.5
Time friends meet: 10.5 hrs
