Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hint:

Let x = speed of boat (without the stream) and c = speed of the current of the stream

Downstream:

d = rt

12 = (x - c)*3

Upstream:

d = rt

12 = (x + c)*6
