Question 689242: A.Using the definition pH = -log[H^+] where [H^+] is the hydrogen ion concentration, find the pH of coffee with a hydrogen ion concentration of:
[H^+] = 5*10^-6
B.Using the definition above find the hydrogen ion concentration of lemonade having a pH of 3.5

Answer by fcabanski(1391)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

A. 5 x 1-^-6 is 5 with the decimal moved 6 places left which is .000005

-log(.000005) = 5.301030

B. 3.5 = -log(H+) ---> -3.5 = log(H+) ---> antilog(-3.5) = H+ concentration (use the 10^x key on the calculator): 3x10*-4
