from the question, we have
x+y+z=118
y=x-17
z=3x+5
by substituting the second and the third equation into the first equation, we have
x+(x-17)+(3x+5)=118
x+x-17+3x+5=118
5x-12=118
5x=130

by substituting x=26 into the second equation, we have
y=(26)-17

by substituting x=26 into the third equation, we have
z=3(26)+5
