The length of a rectangle is 3 feet less than twice the width of the rectangle. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 474 feet, find the width and the length.
-----------
Let the width be "w":
Then the length is "2w-3"
------
Equation:
Perimeter = 2(width + length)
474 = 2(w + 2w-3)
237 = 3w-3
3w = 240
w = 80 feet (width)
2w-3 = 157 feet (length)
