Question 662249: Eric collected 1 1/3 times as many beads as Malik in the beginning. If Eric collected 48 more beads and Malik collected 13 more beads, Erc would have twice as many beads as Malik. How many beads did they collect altogether in the beginning?
I feel as though the number of beads collected would look like this:
1 1/3(x)
And Malik's would just be an (x)
But I can't get any further, the rest of the problem confuses me.

If Eric collected 48 more beads and Malik collected 13 more beads

Erc would have twice as many beads as Malik.

 

 

          

          66 = 2x

          33 = x, Malik's beginning amount. Eric's was 44.

How many beads did they collect altogether in the beginning? 33 + 44 = 77
