Our approach will be to isolate y by itself on one side of the equation. When we do that, then we will have what y equals.
First, subtract 2x from both sides:
2x-2x+3y=6-2x
(2x-2x=0 sooooo):

3y=6-2x Now we know what three y's equal but we need to know what (1)y equals.
Next divide both sides by 3
(3y)/3=(6-2x)/3
(3/3=1 sooooo):

y=(6-2x)/3
