Question 636418: Three freinds own a car in fla. one owns 7/12 of the car the second owns 1/6. How much does the third own?

1/6 is the same as 2/12th
so 7/12 + 2/12 = 9/12
the whole car = 12/12
2 of them own 9/12 so the remainder is the 3rd friends share
12/12 - 9/12 = 3/12 or 1/4
