Jamie is twice as old as her brother's  age , 

four years ago, she was four times as old as her brother.

Question states***  4 yrs ago...

 2x - 4 = 4(x-4)

 2x - 4 = 4x - 16

     12 = 2x

     6 = x, brother's age.  Jamie is 12.
