Let time he drove on 1st day be T
Then time he drove on 3rd day = T + 4
Time he drove on 2nd day = 36 � (T + T + 4), or 36 � 2T � 4, or 32 � 2T

Distance on 1st day, plus distance on 2nd day, plus distance on 3rd day = total distance,
OR

64(T) + 62(32 � 2T) + 58(T + 4) = 2,196
64T + 1,984 � 124T + 58T + 232 = 2,196
64T � 124T + 58T = 2,196 � 1,984 � 232
� 2T = - 20
T, or time he drove on 1st day = , or hours

Time driven on 2nd day = 32 � 2T, or 32 � 2(10), or 32 � 20, or hours
