Find a number that is 24 greater than twice the ooposite of itself
:
I assume that the opposite of a number, is the negative of that number.
Let the number = x: the opposite = -x
:
x = 24 + 2(-x)
x = 24 - 2x
x + 2x = 24
3x = 24
x = 24/3
x = 8
:
Check it: 8 = 24 + 2(-8)
