There are 22 chickens and cows on a farm. Together they have 60 legs. How many of each animal are there?
sol :
let x be the no of chickens and y be the no of cows
forming equations with what we know
given:
x + y = 22 --------(1)
Together they have 60 legs
so 2x + 4 y = 60
chick one pair + cows two pairs of legs = total legs
solving for x & y you get 8 cows and 14 chicken.
