Question 509985: i am having trouble setting up a linear equation story problem. how many liters of a 10% alcohol solution must be mixed with 20l of a 80% solution to get a 50% solution. I know what to do but do not know how to identify the coreect form
Answer by nerdybill(7384) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how many liters of a 10% alcohol solution must be mixed with 20l of a 80% solution to get a 50% solution.
.
Let x = amount (liters) of 10% solution
then
.10x + .80(20) = .50(20+x)
.
Does that help?
