Question 487101: f (x) = kg(x) + 2
The function f above is defined in terms of another
function g for all values of x, where k is a constant.
If t is a number for which f (t ) = 30 and g(t) = 8,
what does k equal?

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x) = k * g(x) + 2
t = a number for which:
f(t) = 30
g(t) = 8
your formula of:
f(x) = kg(x) + 2 becomes:
f(t) = kg(t) + 2 which becomes:
30 = 8k + 2 when f(t) = 30 and g(t) = 8.
you can solve for k to get:
k = 28/8 = 3.5
