The Perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 36cm. The total length of the two equal legs is 12 more then one-half the length of the base. find the lengts of three sides.

The Perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 36cm. The total length of the two equal legs is 12 more then one-half the length of the base. find the lengths of three sides.

Let the base be "x".
Total length of 2 equal sides is (x/2)+12
---
Perimeter = x + (x/2)+12 = 36
---
(3/2)x + 12 = 36
(3/2)x = 24
x = (2/3)24 = 16
Then (x/2)+12 = 20 cm
So each of the equal sides is 10cm

base = 16 cm
Each equal side = 10 cm
