Consolidate Shirt Works uses the function given by V(t)= -2000t + 15,000 to determine the salvage value V(t), in dollars, of a color separator t years after it has been put into use.
a) What does the slope (coefficient of x) represent?
b) What do the x- and y-intercepts represent?

Consolidate Shirt Works uses the function given by V(t)= -2000t + 15,000 to determine the salvage value V(t), in dollars, of a color separator t years after it has been put into use.
a) What does the slope (coefficient of x) represent?
Each year the separator value goes down $2000.
------------------------
b) What do the x- and y-intercepts represent?
x-intercept: The year when the value of the separator is zero.
---
y-intercept: The original value of the separator.

There is no coefficient on x nor is there an x-intercept. That is because the independent variable in your function is t.
The coefficient on t, that is the slope, represents the amount of annual decrease in the value of the machine.
The t-coordinate of the t-intercept is the number of years required to reduce the value of the machine to zero.
The V(t)-coordinate of the V(t)-intercept is the value of the machine at time zero, that is to say, the initial cost of the machine.
