When the crew rows with the current, the boat travels 14 mi in 2 hr, or 7mph. Against the current, the rate is 3mph.
7mph+3mph/2=5mph
The crew rows 5mph in still water. With the current, they get a 2mph bump. Against the current, they're slowed 2mph.
