Question 422778: I am having a problem turning this word problem into equation here the problem The instruction manual on the industrial oven suggests the oven temperature will increase by 55 degrees Fahrenheit per minute. When the oven is initially turned on, the temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit. What will the temperature of the oven be after 17 minutes? Write an expression, then solve and explain how you arrived at your answer.
Answer by htmentor(1343)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let r = the rate of temperature increase = 55 deg/min
Let T0 = initial oven temperature = 60 deg
The temperature at time, t, therefore will be:
T(t) = T0 + r*t
So the temperature after 17 mins is:
T(17) = 60 deg. + 55 deg/min*17 mins = 995 degrees F
