Let x and (275 -x) represent the number of quarters and dimes respectively

Question states*** CENTS makes sense

 25x + 10(275-x) = 5150

        15x = 2400

          x = 160, number of quarters.   115 dimes   (275-160)

Solving for x

CHECKING our Answer***

   25+160 + 10*115 = 4000 + 1150 = 5150 or $51.50
