It rains for 40 hours, x hours at 40 ml per hour and x hours at 20 mil per hour. How long did it rain at each rate if the total rain amount is 1,100 ml?
Amount of rain at 40ml per hour is 40x
Amount of rain at 20ml per hour is 20x
EQUATION:
rain + rain = 1100 ml of rain
40x+20x=1100
60x=1100
6x=110
x=18 1/3 hrs. or 18hr 20min.
