Question 33909: I am having a bit of trouble with this one. Please help!
Alan needs 250 ml of a solution that is 45% alcohol. If he has a solution that is 50% alcohol and purified water (which is 0% alcohol, how much water should he use?
I have tried everything I think the 0% is really throwing me off.
If you can help that would be so great...

Answer by Paul(988)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the soluton be x
Equation:
0x+50(250-x)=45(250)
12500-50x=11250
-50x=-1250
x=25
He should use about 25 mL of water.
Paul.
