Question 334509: determine the unknown quantities and represent these with appropriate variables.
determine the equations of the linear system that models the problem and solve.
Monique is starting her own on-line business selling jewellery that she makes. It cost her $3000 to buy a new computer, and monthly expenses for Internet service and materials average about $175 per month. If her revenue for each month averages about $420, how long will it be before she starts to turn a profit?

thankyou

Let represent the number of months that she has been in business.

Since it costs her $175 per month, but she has $420 revenue per month, her net income is $245. So her profit, after months is from which you need to subtract the initial $3000 expense. We want this to be greater than or equal to zero, so:

Just solve for and then select the next higher integer, presuming that she accounts for a given month at the end of that month.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
