Question 316958: The Fussy Food SHop makes a gourmet low-fat blend of pretzels and potato chips. If he cost of the pretzels is $2.40 per pound and the cost of poraro chips is $3.40 per pound, how many pounds of pretzels and how many pounds of potato chips should be used to make a 2 pound blend that costs $3 per pound?
Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3.40x+2.40(2-x)=2*3
3.40x+4.80-2.40x=6
x=6-4.80
x=1.20 pounds of $3.40 potato chips.
2-1.20=.80 pounds of $2.40 potato chips.
Proof:
3.40*1.20+2.40*.8=2*3
4.08+1.92=6
6=6
