Question 303629: Regarding density and specific gravity. Density = D, mass = m, and volume = V which has the formula D = or mass per unit volume. Liquids, solids and gases all have a density. And if we are dealing with grams and centimeters. Grams is mass and centimeters cubed is the volume. Can you please answer the question below with the proper unit of measure in the answer.
a. Solve the Density formula for v.
b. Pure silver has a density of 10.5 g/cm3. How large (what is the v?) would a piece of silver be if it had a mass of 595.51 g?
c. Solve the Density formula for m.
d. What is the mass of ice that fills a 400 cm3 container, if the density of ice is 0.92 g/cm3?
thank you
Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a. Solve the Density formula for v.
v = m/D
-------------
b. Pure silver has a density of 10.5 g/cm3. How large (what is the v?) would a piece of silver be if it had a mass of 595.51 g?
v = 595.51/10.5
v = 56.715 cc (cubic centimeters) or ml
-----------------------------
c. Solve the Density formula for m.
m = v*D
------------
d. What is the mass of ice that fills a 400 cm3 container, if the density of ice is 0.92 g/cm3?
m = 400*0.92
= 368 grams
